<h2><strong>EVENT TIMING:</strong></h2><h3>Panel discussion: 12:00pm-1:00 pm</h3><h2><strong>THE TOPIC:</strong></h2><p>What will the  2022 Iowa legislative session mean for business? We will sit down with business leaders to learn what issues they are focusing on when the Legislature convenes on Jan. 10. We will discuss how the continuing coronavirus pandemic may affect legislation and the effects that may have on decisions made by the state’s business community. We will focus on key issues business leaders need to be aware of heading into the 2022 session, what lawmakers need to do to offset the labor shortage and supply chain disruptions, and what issues business leaders may be closely watching that could influence those decisions. We’ll also discuss how what happened in 2021 could influence further work by lawmakers on issues, such as broadband expansion and childcare. </p><h2>Questions we plan to tackle:</h2><p>-What do you see as the most important issue lawmakers need to address during the 2022 session?</p><p>-What do lawmakers need to do to encourage more people to come to Iowa or to keep  existing residents here to fight the ongoing labor shortage in the state?</p><p>-The $100 million approved in 2021 to expand broadband statewide has been supplemented by federal COVID relief funds. Will that additional money discourage lawmakers from continuing the push for funding to expand high-speed internet, or will more money be approved to continue that effort?</p><p>-Progress was made on alleviating the childcare cliff and to create greater access to quality childcare in 2021.
