WELCOME! PLEASE READ ALL INFO AND ARRIVE PREPARED FOR CLASS:
This class fulfills all requirements to obtain your OPOTC Private Security Firearms Certificate.
This is a 20 Hour course taking place over 2 consecutive days.
Day 1: 10 Hour Classroom from 8:00am to 7:00pm
Day 2: 10 Hours Combined Classroom and Range 8:00am to 7:00pm
Students will be taught the basic principles of Ohio CHL law and will be taught how to handle interaction with law enforcement. Instruction is provided by a Ohio Police Officers Training Commission (OPOTC) Certified Instructor with years of practical experience in carrying a firearm & in law enforcement.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
To enroll, you must meet the State of Ohio's Basic Eleigibility guidelines:
- You must be over the age of 18.
- You must not be under a firearms disability.
If you are uncertain about your eligibility, call us or use the Student Disclosure Statement of Understanding form to determine your eligibility before enrolling. (Click the blue link)
NOTE: If you find you are not eligible, please do not enroll and contact Action Defense for next steps in getting this resolved.
If you are not eligible, but enroll anyways, you will be dismissed from class, and forfeit your fee.

Plan Ahead:
- Study to memorize your written SPO's.
- If you are a new shooter, Take classes, Practice range SPO's. (not required)
- Prepare your documents a few days in advance of your class

OPOTA CLASS ENROLLMENT AND REFUND POLICIES
By enrolling in an OPOTA Class, you have determined your eligibility and agree to these Policies:
REFUNDS: To receive a full refund, you must cancel your class at least 7 days before it is scheduled to begin. Cancellations received less than 7 days prior to the class date are non-refundable.
RESCHEDULING: We are happy to reschedule your class when you provide us with at least 48 hour notice before your scheduled class with the following guidelines:
- Up to 48 Hours Notice: Rescheduling is permitted at no charge.
- 48 to 24 Hours Notice: A rescheduling fee of 50% of the enrollment cost is required to reschedule
- Less Than 24 Hours Notice: A rescheduling fee of 100% of the enrollment cost (full price) is required.
NON-REFUNDABLE SCENARIOS: The enrollment fees are non-refundable in the following situations. Students who fall under these scenarios forfeit their enrollment and must pay the full enrollment fee to attend a future class.
- Late Arrival: Arriving late or missing any portion of your class (including the start of class, range time, and returning from breaks or lunch).
- Missed Class/No-Show: Failing to attend the course on the scheduled day without any advance notice.
- Failure or Dismissal: Failing the course or being dismissed for any reason.
- Course Ineligibility: Attending class while not meeting eligibility requirements (e.g., expired certification or having a state/federal weapons disability)
CLASS CANCELLATIONS: Action Defense reserves the right to cancel any class due to enrollment, inclement weather or any other reason. In the event of a cancellation, students will be notified by email, and options for refunds or rescheduling will be provided.
