Higher Education at the Crossroads: Connecting Purpose, People, and Progress for the Next Generation CampusPlease join us for the 2025 Learning Symposium on Tuesday, Aug. 19 in Parent's Hall. We are planning a day with ample opportunities to reflect and reconnect, to socialize with colleagues, to focus on our community, and to center ourselves for the year ahead. Featuring speaker Dr. Kevin McClure, author of The Caring University.This year’s Drake Learning Symposium will allow faculty and staff to gather as one, bringing with us our unique and shared experiences, while focusing on our way forward as a community.Lunch will be provided by two food trucks; Hotsy Totsy and the Big Red Food Truck. A voucher for an entrée and beverage will be provided to all Symposium attendees.We are excited to offer this year’s Learning Symposium as a wonderful opportunity for building community. As with all campus events and activities, we ask managers to actively encourage their employees to consider attending—this applies to faculty and both hourly and salaried staff.Doors will open at 8:00 am for check-in and a light coffee reception, with a welcome from the Provost at 8:30.

Our two breakout sessions will run from 10:00-10:45 and 10:45-11:30. When you place your ticket order, please indicate which two sessions you would like to attend. The options are as follows: <ul><li>Rooted and Ready: Reclaiming Energy and Purpose, with Claire Muselman</li><li>Generative AI Update, with Chris Snider and Chris Porter</li><li>Care at Our Core: The Heart Work of Supporting Today’s Students, with Jill Batten</li></ul><ul><li>Meeting Students Where They Are and Guiding Them Forward, with Tim Urness</li><li>Getting Things Done: Everyday Tools for Project Wins, with Kris Brewster</li></ul>All breakout sessions will be held in Aliber Hall. The 11:30 wrap-up session will take palce back in Parent's Hall
