About this event
With such an overwhelmingly positive response to our format, Hardee and I feel we've hit a jackpot with this approach. Individual, in-depth exploration of 2nd to 5th degree black priciples with plenty of free response sessions, while participants recieve immediate feedback from our instruction team. Each of these high-level teacher/practitioners will share their insights and personal suggestions for maximizing your experience and increasing your taijutsu knowledge.
Friday, April 26th will be an introductory warm-up of the kihon fundamentals along with free-response sessions. If your instructor is with you and you'd like to evaluate, this would be a great opportunity (please note you must have reached your time in rank and attended the required number of classes to qualify).
Saturday, April 27th will cover the core principles associated with 2nd to 5th degree Black Belt. We'll take a deep dive into the underlying ideas that drive our unique style of timing, distancing and angling, allowing each instructor to lend their personal experiences within each of these areas of study and their meaningful association with the different Dan Ranks. Along with these blocks of study, we'll explore how they play out in free response situations, allowing everyone to get some quality dirt time! That evening we'll celebrate a birthday!?!
Sunday, April 28th we'll take our taijutsu principles and apply them to direct cirriculum material. Each of our instructors will guide us through the breakdown of the models (kata), exemplifying 'why' these techniques are so vulable in building quality skill through principle without getting locked in to an unreal 'performances'. Throughout the day, we'll have mini 'free reponse sessions to allow your creative side to get some playtime!
- Space will be limited, register now!
- All meals will be on your own
- A more specific breakdown of the schedule will follow.
Frequently asked questions
Absolutely Not! All principles are derived from the Takamatsu-Den. While our approach is through a To-Shin Do lens, the training revolves around effective, efficient body movement (Taijutsu). All are welcome!!!
Those that can travel safely, yes. You never know when one of the instructors will relate our skills to utilizing a training tool. Good to have on hand. The dojo will also have extra on hand just in case.
Not only will we take periodic, short breaks, We will do a lot of work in groups of 3. We've found this allows the 'odd person out' to digest more of what is being shared while catching a breather. It also assists in space management.
We'd love to spend some focused time 'checking in' with everyone, but with a packed weekend of instruction, it's unrealistic to try and provide thorough feedback. However, there may be opportunities to schedule 'private sessions' with one of the seniors if they are in town and on-hand.
Amazing instruction. Fun, engaging interactions and camraderie! There are no ego's floating around here. If you're putting in the time and resources to participate, there will be nothing but welcoming energy and gratitude. We are here to share. We are here to learn...Let's Train!
How about free admission? You heard right! If you operate a group, club or school and register 3 or more members, your fee is on the house! You support the event, we'll support you! (Non- transferable)
