2024 Timed Entry Tickets | Dumbarton Oaks Gardens

The Gardens of Dumbarton Oaks are an oasis within the city. Designed by renowned landscape gardener Beatrix Farrand in collaboration with Mildred Bliss, the garden extends over ten acres of terraced gardens and vistas, orchards, and kitchen gardens. Farrand and Bliss worked together for almost thirty years to achieve their vision of the Garden which includes many fine decorative ornaments—benches, gates, finials, and sculptures.

Entry requires a pre-purchased ticket. No tickets are sold at the gate. A timed entry ticket allows entry between the entry time listed on the ticket and 5:30 p.m. The Gardens close at 6:00 p.m. Admission is free for children 2 years old and under.

In 2024, Gardens are closed on the following dates:

• April 18-20
• May 9-11
• July 9-12
• Wednesday, June 19 (Juneteenth)
• Thursday, July 4 (Independence Day)
• September 19-21
• October 3-5

On these days, daily tickets will not be available for purchase and season passes will not be honored.

FAQ

What is your refund policy?

Daily garden ticket purchases are nonrefundable and nontransferable, except when the Gardens are closed at Dumbarton Oaks' discretion. Garden tickets are limited to 10 per household per day and are only available online via Eventbrite. There is no point of sale on site.

Tickets cannot be transferred to another date under any circumstances, including purchasing errors, or family or medical emergencies. We recommend waiting to purchase tickets until you are certain you're able to use them.

What happens if there is inclement weather?

In the event of unsafe conditions caused by inclement weather, the Gardens will close. Closure notices are posted on our website and social media channels. Refunds will be issued for daily ticket purchases.
