Agenda

9:00am-9:30am Welcome to THRiVE

9:30am-10:30am Wellbeing and Work

The post-pandemic burnout is real y’all. In our opening panel of the THRiVE 2024 Summit, a panel of corporate and community leaders will explore why burnout persists, even though we have greater flexibility than ever before. Panelists will dive deep, exploring boundaries, the role of executive leaders in modeling wellbeing, and the need for organizations to support their employees in finding mentorship, sponsorship, and community both inside and outside of the workplace. Moderated by Kara Kirby, Founder of Insights Leadership Group, this panel will feature Creighton Blackwell, Chief Community and Public Affairs Officer at Coastal Credit Union, Jes Averhart, CEO of Jes & Co., and Dr. Ronda Taylor Bullock, Co-Founder and Lead Curator of we are.

10:30am-10:45am Mindfulness Moment, facilitated by Jeannine Brown

10:45am-11:00am Break

11:00am-12:00pm Find your People

Ever been to a conference to focus on networking and building community, and left without making a single new connection? Yeah, us too. That’s why we’re taking our most popular breakout session from years past and bringing it into the main room. For a full hour, Angel Brown will facilitate small and large group networking for every attendee at THRiVE. Get ready, you might just find your people.

12:00pm-1:00pm Lunch

Enjoy a nutritious lunch in the main room or out on the Umstead Hotel’s beautiful terrace. Vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options will be available.

1:00pm-1:15pm Mindfulness Moment, facilitated by Jeannine Brown

1:15pm-2:30pm Afternoon Breakouts

Choose your adventure - either soaking in the wisdom of an incredible fireside chat on Workplace Power, or engaging in small group conversation on a Civic Leadership topic of your choosing.

Workplace Power

It is 2024. We are looking for more than a vague commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion on a website. In this panel, we’ll hear from leaders who are innovating on structure, governance, and decision making in their organizations - in other words, leaders who are taking on questions of Workplace Power. This fireside chate features Rodney Evans, Partner, The Ready, and Dr. William Jackson, Founder and Chief Dreamer, Village of Wisdom.

Civic Leadership

Want to build community with people who care about an issue just as much as you? Here’s your chance. Facilitated by key community leaders, we’ll break into small groups and discuss some of the biggest issues and opportunities in the Triangle. Each conversation will include opportunities to learn about the topic and connect with others.

Topics and facilitators are below.

- Educational Equity with Ashley Kazouh, MSW, MPA

- Regional Affordable Housing Strategy with Erin Briggs Yates

- Public Education Advocacy with LeVon Barnes

- Teenage Boys Mental Health with Jordan Bowman

- Democracy and Elections with Damon Circosta

- Finding Volunteer Opportunities in the Triangle with Lee Pike

- Sustainable Living Practices with Sonia Frischemeier

- Health and Wellness in the Latine community with Edith M. Nieves-Lòpez MD FAAP

2:30pm-2:45pm Break

2:45pm-3:15pm Dreaming at the Threshold:A Visual Reflection on Process and Community Care

We’ll close out the THRiVE Community Leadership Summit with Jamaica Gilmer, Founder of The Beautiful Project. Jamaica's keynote will be a written and visual exploration of the core themes of the Summit: Rest, Belonging, Joy and Intergenerational Care. Come prepared to be immersed in her artistry, and to reflect on how you’re going to take the lessons of the day forward.
