About this event

  • 1 day 8 hours

This course is designed to provide the learner with the knowledge base to be able to successfully enter into a formal mentoring program to learn the hands-on skills to practice safely and effectively in the NICU environment. Because physical therapy practice in the NICU environment is not considered entry level practice by the APTA Pediatric Physical Therapy Association, The American Physical Therapy Association, (APTA) American Occupational Therapy Association, (AOTA) and the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA) recommend new graduates or novice therapists to the NICU complete a formal mentoring process in NICU practice before working independently within a NICU environment.

Purpose:

The course is designed to provide the student with learning experiences that will contribute to the developmental of a foundational knowledge base for practice in the NICU environment.
