Secret Gardens of Cambridge Tour 2024


The Secret Gardens of Cambridge (SGC) is a biennial fundraising event of the Friends of the Cambridge Public Library. Since its launch in 2000, SGC has featured more than 200 individual gardens in Cambridge, from a backyard oasis featuring a hidden swimming pond to a garden that springs to life with thousands of bulbs each year. The Secret Gardens of Cambridge offers a special self-guided tour for all members of the community to discover and explore private gardens in neighborhoods all across the city.


Join the 2024 Secret Gardens of Cambridge Tour, Sunday June 9, 2024, for an adventure through the hidden garden gems of Cambridge! Through the tour you will walk through stunning rear gardens, stroll by delightful front gardens, and be immersed in local culture and storied institutions. This self-guided tour promises to be a treat for families, community members, budding gardeners, and landscape professionals alike. Note: Physical booklets with maps of the gardens will serve as your "ticket" for the tour. We are no longer selling mailed booklets. Booklet pick up will be available on June 1st, June 8th & 9th from 10-2, and 1-4 on June 2nd at the Main Library Branch (449 Broadway).

A QR code to a digital, mobile-friendly map is included in the booklets and will be accessible the morning of the event.

Who are the Friends of Cambridge Public Library?

Friends of the Cambridge Public Library is a non-profit volunteer-driven organization committed to providing the Library with resources to respond to immediate funding needs and opportunities. Since 1995, Friends has funded special projects, community events, acquisitions, and new technologies.

What is the Secret Garden of Cambridge Tour?

The Secret Gardens of Cambridge, presented on alternate years since 2000, is a signature fundraising event of the Friends. This special self-guided tour is held on an early Sunday in June, just as spring turns to summer. Last year's tour featured 44 gardens and raised over $63,000 for the library.

Where does the Secret Gardens of Cambridge Tour take place?

The tour is a self guided experience, taking place in private gardens across Cambridge. You are welcome to start the tour at any garden listed in your booklet. Gardens will open to ticket holders at 10 a.m. and close at 4 p.m. We encourage you to visit as many gardens as you'd like during this time!

Where/when do I pick up the physical tickets?

Your booklet will serve as your ticket to the tour. We are no longer selling tickets by mail. Ticket pick up will be available on June 1st, June 8th & 9th from 10-2, and 1-4 on June 2nd at the Main Library Branch (449 Broadway).

I'm planning to attend with a group / my family. How many tickets will I need?

One ticket per individual for adults 18+. Children under 18 are free.

Where can I purchase tickets?

Your booklet will serve as your ticket to the tour and can be purchased here online via EventBrite & in-person at select times prior to the event.
