Panther Camp is a great way for you to meet other new students before you start your FIU experience. If you enjoy having fun, meeting exciting people, and love to take advantage of a great opportunity then Panther Camp is for you! The program focuses on assisting new students in building relationships with other FIU students, fostering school spirit, cultivating future student leaders, and helping students learn about FIU’s traditions and unique culture.

By registering for any events hosted by the Orientation and Family Programs Office you affirm that you understand the policies stipulated below, and you agree to abide by them.

PAYMENT POLICY:

1. All payments must be made in full at the time of registration.

2. Online payment is the only method of payment by the use of a credit card.

3. Do not register for Panther Camp if you are planning to, or have already submitted Panther Camp Scholarship application. No scholarships will be granted or partial refunds granted for participants who register to pay the full registration cost.


REFUND POLICY:

NO FULL REFUNDS OF THE REGISTRATION FEE WILL BE GRANTED.

A refund of 50% of the registration fee (not including the online processing fee) will be granted only under the following circumstance:

A written request for a refund is received by the Orientation and Family Programs Office BY SUNDAY, JUNE 2, 2024. Written requests must be submitted via email (pcamp@fiu.edu).


NO 50% REFUNDS WILL BE GRANTED AFTER SUNDAY, JUNE 2, 2024.


REGISTRATION CHANGES/TRANSFERS:

If you would like to switch your event date to another session, a written request must be received BY SUNDAY, JUNE 2, 2024 and any changes are based on event availability.

Any request received after SUNDAY, JUNE 2, 2024 will not be considered for transfer/change. Written requests must be submitted via email (pcamp@fiu.edu).


WAIVERS:

All participants must complete Panther Camp's required waivers. Waivers will be embedded into your registration and can be reviewed prior to submission by visiting the following link: go.fiu.edu/PCwaivers1

RELEASE AND ASSUMPTION OF RISK AGREEMENT:

I do agree and promise the following for and in consideration of my participation in the Office of Orientation & Family Program’s Panther Camp Retreat (LaBelle, FL) on June 14, 2024 –June 16, 2024 sponsored by Florida International University (FIU or the University) and all activities related thereto (the Program):

I. My participation in the Program is voluntary and is not a requirement of my curriculum at FIU. I have chosen to participate in the Program because of the learning and cultural experiences I will gain. I acknowledge that I am neither an agent nor representative of FIU and may not look to the University or the State of Florida for reimbursement of expenses. I accept full responsibility for all costs and expenses associated with my participation in the Program.

II. I acknowledge that, in the course of my participation in the Program, I may be exposed to risks inherent with travel, some of which are known and some of which are unknown, which may result in property damage or loss, as well as personal or bodily injury which could be painful, permanently disfiguring, debilitating and even fatal. I voluntarily assume full responsibility for all such risks, including, but not limited to, sickness, bad weather, strikes, war or military actions, quarantine, detention, delay, vandalism, muggings, kidnappings, and/or acts of terrorism. I further expressly assume full responsibility for any risk of bodily injury, death, or property damage due to the negligence of the State of Florida, Florida Board of Governors, the FIU Board of Trustees, and/or FIU and their respective employees and agents, or otherwise.

III. I acknowledge the risk that in the course of my participation in the Program I may have contact with individuals who have been exposed to and/or have been diagnosed with one or more communicable diseases, including but not limited to COVID-19 or other medical conditions or diseases does exist, and that it is impossible to eliminate the risk that I could be exposed to and/or become infected through contact with or close proximity with an individual with a communicable disease. I knowingly and voluntarily assume all risks related to my exposure to COVID-19 or other medical conditions or diseases.

IV. I agree and acknowledge that I will have time for and may engage in personal activities unrelated to the purpose of the Program while I am a participant of the Program. Such activities will be at my sole responsibility and risk.

V. I acknowledge that the State of Florida, the Florida Board of Governors, the FIU Board of Trustees, and/or FIU and their respective officers, employees, and agents are not responsible for losses or expenses suffered by me due to delays, changes in itinerary, changes in the content of Program, or other matters which are beyond their control.

VI. I, for myself, my heirs, executors, administrators and assigns release, waive, discharge and relinquish, and agree to hold harmless the State of Florida, the Florida Board of Governors, the FIU Board of Trustees, and FIU, and their respective officers, employees and agents, from and against all claims and causes of action which may arise from my participation in the Program and its related activities, whether the same should arise by reason of the negligence of anyone participating in the Program or its related activities, or otherwise, and agree that under no circumstances will I, or anyone claiming through me, prosecute or present any claims for personal or bodily injury, property damage or loss, or wrongful death against the State of Florida, the Florida Board of Governors, the FIU Board of Trustees, or FIU, or their respective officers, employees, and agents.

VII. I further expressly agree that this Release and Assumption of Risk Agreement is intended to be as broad and as inclusive as the laws of the State of Florida will allow, and that if any portion thereof is held to be invalid, it is agreed that the balance shall, notwithstanding the invalid portion, will continue in full legal force and effect.

ALCOHOL AND DRUGS POLICY:

I hereby pledge that I will not possess, use, consume, or distribute any alcohol or illegal drugs, or drug paraphernalia while participating in Florida International University’s Panther Camp Program. Regardless of age or location, there will be no alcohol consumed at any point on the trip. I acknowledge that failure to abide by the Florida International University Alcohol and Drug Policy found in the Student Conduct and Honor Code will result in referral to Student Conduct and Academic Integrity for action and other action deemed appropriate by FIU Panther Camp.
