About this event

  • 1 hour 30 minutes

Sunday, September 15 at 5:00 PM, Rain or shine.

Marc Molomot, tenor, Robert Osborne, bass, Amy Justman, soprano, and accompanist Alex Ruvinstein reach into the Great American Songbook for this performance of songs written by Richard Rodgers, one of Amerca's most successful theater composers. They will also present songs by later generations of composers with personal attachments to Rodgers, including Stephen Sondheim, a close friend of Richard's daughter Mary, and Adam Guettel, Rodgers' grandson.

Richard Rodgers composed songs for Broadway musicals beginning in 1919, collaborating with lyricist Lorenz Hart. Later, Rodgers worked with Oscar Hammerstein to create some of the greatest works in American musical theater. These songs have become standards the world over.

This performance is rain or shine. In case of inclement weather, the performance will take place indoors in the Community Room of the Cola Center at Untermyer Park & Gardens, and there will be signs directing you indoors. All sales are final.

The Untermyer Gardens Conservancy is dedicated to the revitalization of Samuel Untermyer’s once great gardens, now a City municipal park in Yonkers, New York. Working with the City of Yonkers, the Conservancy will showcase exuberant horticulture in the magnificent landscape designed by Welles Bosworth in 1916. An emphasis on the lives of Samuel and Minnie Untermyer will deepen the appeal and meaning of these gardens for all people.
