2024 MARCH OF THE MONARCHS

Don’t miss the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum‘s (NLBM) 3rd Annual “March of the Monarchs,” presented by Evergy starting at12 PM, Saturday, May 4th at the corner of 22nd & Brooklyn (site of Municipal Stadium). It’s a FREE family walk celebrating the winning spirit of the great Kansas City Monarchs and held on the anniversary of Jackie Robinson’s first game with the team (May 6, 1945).

The event re-creates the tradition of Monarchs Opening Day when a marching band would lead fans from 18th & Vine to the ballpark at 22nd & Brooklyn. For our celebration, we reverse the route with the walk ending at the NLBM where the celebration will continue with live entertainment, food trucks, mascots, yard games and more.

FAQ’s - THINGS TO KNOW

ATTIRE: Kansas City Monarch gear is encouraged! Kansas City Monarchs Shirts and Caps can be purchased inside the Extra Innings Gift Shop inside the NLBM.

FESTIVAL: Live music, food trucks, mascots, and yard games will be available. Plus, free NLBM admission for kids participating in the walk. Bringing your own lawn chair is encouraged.

RESTROOMS: Bathrooms Inside the Museums at 18th and Vine will be available. - Secure your spot: Your RSVP accounts for your spot on the shuttle.

PARKING: Use the following locations: - Buck O’Neil Education and Research Center.

- The 18th and Vine Parking Lots.

- Along 18th Street West of Paseo.

- Buck O'Neil Education & Research Center

- Full Employment Council - Parking Lot

- SHUTTLE SERVICE : Starts at 11:00 AM and will run continuously until 11:50 AM. Transportation will be provided from the NLBM to Monarch Plaza. Pick up will be out front of the NLBM's main entrance. Individuals are encouraged to find parking at 18th and Vine and take the shuttle over to 22nd and Brooklyn.
