Join us for the 2024 Nursing Research and Education Day! We aim to spark interest and curiosity in the research process and cultivate multi-disciplinary collaboration.

Target Audience | This activity is targeted to registered nurses, nurse practitioners, and student nurses with an affiliation to HSS.

Learning Objectives | At the conclusion of this course, the participant will be able to:

  • Describe the role that innovation plays in nursing research and evidenced based practice translation
  • Summarize previously completed and/or on going research and EBP projects completed by nurses at HSS and beyond
  • Discuss resources available to aspiring nursing researchers at HSS

    Call for Abstracts | HSS Nursing is now accepting abstracts for podium and poster presentations for the 2024 Annual HSS Nursing Research & Education Day on October 16, 2024. This year’s theme is Embracing Change with Nurse Innovation. Authors are encouraged to submit abstracts on nurse-led innovative care programs, inventions, AI, research, and evidence-based projects. Preference will be given to those with orthopedic nursing related topics but all innovative nursing submissions will be considered.

Eligibility:

  • In progress and completed studies, projects and initiatives will be considered for podium and poster presentations.
  • Previously presented or published work will be considered.
  • Authors may include students, nurses, and multidisciplinary team members

Format:

  • Abstracts are limited to 400 words
  • Structured abstracts are required utilizing the following categories:
  • Innovation/Research: Background, Objectives, Methods, Results, Conclusions, Implications for further research.
  • Evidence Based Practice/Quality Improvement: Background, Purpose/Objectives, Methodology, Implementation, Evaluation, Conclusions, Implications

Requirements:

  • It will be required to include with the abstract your CV and Disclosure Statement.
  • Following acceptance, the presenter is required to register and attend the event. Presenters attend free of charge. Additional costs associated with conference attendance will be the responsibility of the presenter.

Important Dates:

  • Deadline for Submission: July 1, 2024
  • Notification of abstract acceptance will be no later than August 1, 2024.
  • Confirmation of acceptance by the primary author is required by August 14, 2024.
  • An electronic file of the slides or poster content is required by September 14, 2024.

Poster Presentations:

  • Posters will be displayed throughout the conference day. There will also be a designated poster session. Poster presenters must be present for questions during this time.

Podium Presentations:

  • Podium presentations are 20 minutes with an additional 5 minutes for questions and discussions.
