Bloomington Motion Artist Group and Constellation Stage &amp; Screen have partnered to create a panel discussion of local media professionals to discuss one of the most essential skills in post-production. Media has evolved considerably in the last 20 years, and as legacy media continues to give way to new media endeavors, video creation is no longer the exclusive domain of a few industries. Our local experts sit down in an open conversation to compare and contrast creative intention, practical knowledge, and what exactly "editing" means to their specific domain. Meet the panelists and moderator:

Emelie Flower | Director of Film, Constellation Stage &amp; Screen Emelie has spent the past decade making and teaching film. After attending IU, she went on to work as an Associate Instructor for IU’s telecommunication department and spent time freelancing around the midwest on film and commercial shoots. She then did a 3 year stint in Philly, teaching film classes &amp; working at an awesome camera rental house. Upon her return to Bloomington in 2022, she took on the position as the Director of Film for Constellation Stage &amp; Screen where she now spends a hell of a lot of her time tied to a desk editing marketing videos &amp; student projects. Steve Sobiech | Producer, Wisconsin Cheese Studios Steve has traveled, taught, played music professionally, filmed and edited video, and done a whole lot of other things, some of them not bad life decisions. He's usually a one-man crew but has managed larger projects. He's the owner of Bloomington Gramophone for video recording, and Wisconsin Cheese studios, a small audio recording studio. Steve's video shooting and editing focuses mostly on music and musicians, but has also done interviews, screenwriting for a dark comedy, shooting a cooking series and PSAs for the IU School of Social Work. Arianne Kelley | Producer, HexMedia Arianne Kelley, is co-founder of HexMedia, a social media management and production agency based in Bloomington. She started social media management in 2020 when after moving to Hawaii to do a work trade at a hostel. After breaking her foot the third week of living there (on New Year’s Eve) she had to find a way to pull her weight at the work trade. Taking photos and editing videos for the hostel’s Instagram was just the beginning. A townie, multi passionate creative, and traveler. Arianne graduated from IU with a degree in philosophy and journalism. Creating interesting media and discussing ideas is the cornerstone of HexMedia and at the root of all creative endeavors. Kevin Weaver | Director, Blueline Media Productions Since 2008, Kevin has helped endear brands to their audiences through his innovative approach to visual art at Blueline. As a graduate of Indiana University with a degree in Media Production and Design, Kevin has spent over a decade working with brands such as REI, Rakuten, Outside TV, CBS, and the Big Ten Network helping to craft messages that candidly move a wide variety of audiences. Kevin has produced and edited award winning feature length narrative and documentary films, many of which focus on Indiana based stories, aiming to keep production thriving in Indiana. His work has been selected for numerous film festivals, including the SXSW Film Festival, the Milano International Film Festival, and the Heartland Film Festival where a film he co-directed and edited took home the Indiana Spotlight Award. charles r pearce | Creative Director, crpearce creative Charles is an independent content producer and marketer for brands, bands, and foods. He has performed in a multitude of professional roles on campaigns large and small, and spent the last 12 years working in Chicago and Austin. Charles is also an award-winning digital artist and animation producer. A 2010 graduate from Indiana’s Media School (formerly School of Telecommunications), Charles has been active in media production during a profound era of digital transformation. From the early days of MiniDV recorders to our current era of genAI he has been working at the leading edge of creative innovation, constantly seeking out new tools and strategies for storytelling.
