About this event

The Downtown Dover Chocolate Walk—first held in 2016— is scheduled for Saturday, June 8, 2024 from 5:00-7:30 PM. During that time ticket holders will walk downtown Dover, visiting the many participating businesses—called Sweet Stops--and receive a delightful chocolate treat at each location. As ticket holders make their way through the downtown, some treats will be enjoyed on the spot and others will be taken home to savor later. Every participant’s bag will be overflowing with an amazing amount of chocolate at the end of the evening. Participants will be given a map and a passport and will be given the opportunity to win door prizes from downtown merchants and a special invite to an After Party (LIVE music, fun, freebies, & more!) at Hoodletown Brewing Company. Proceeds from the event benefit the Canal Town Book Festival https://www.canaltownbookfest.org/ , an annual literary event in downtown Dover that is organized by the Dover Public Library.

How does this whole thing work?

First, you purchase your ticket either online here or you can get print tickets at the library. On Friday, June 7 or Saturday, June 8, stop by the Dover Public Library to pick up your bag, map, passport, and more. Then, on the evening of June 8 beginning at 5:00 PM you can start the Chocolate Walk

Do I have to go in a particular order?

Nope! You go in any order you please. At each stop you will receive a chocolate treat and then the proprietor will stamp your passport. When you have your passport complete, stop by the Chocolate Walk Headquarters on the Square to enter to win prizes!

Will there be a Best in Show competition again?

Yes, we encourage all participants to vote on the business or organization that had the best piece of chocolate. The winner will receive the Chocolate Walk Trophy which they will keep for a year.

Will there be an After Party this year?

Yes, there will again be an After Party at Hoodletown Brewing Company here in downtown Dover. Show your completed passport and you will receive a discount! There will be live music (local favorite Basement Bromance), food, fellowship and more!
