Dance with Rhythm & Motion, Dancers' Group and Bopsidy in the 2024 San Francisco Pride Parade!

After a 4-year break, we’re back! Dance with Rhythm & Motion, Dancers' Group and Bopsidy in the 2024 San Francisco Pride Parade! This is your chance to dance your heart out through the center of the city alongside your friends, teachers and fellow Bay Area dancers! We'll be performing three fun, energetic routines celebrating the LGBTQ+ community and welcoming people to San Francisco through the joy of dance.

This year Rhythm & Motion, Dancers' Group and Bopsidy are partnering to highlight the parade's theme, "Beacon of Love,” and express the undiminished spirit of San Francisco as a global leader in the fight for LGBTQ+ liberation and fundamental human rights. Our contingent will include dancers of all ages that together will demonstrate this theme through the power and beauty of dance!

Dancers of all levels welcome—no previous experience required.

Once you've registered, refer to our Dance with Pride page for additional information and updates leading up to parade day.

REGISTRATION ENDS FRIDAY, JUNE 21 AT MIDNIGHT (OR EARLIER IF WE HIT CAPACITY).

THE CHOREOGRAPHY

There are three ways for you to learn the trio of routines we'll perform in this year's parade:

-Attend select Rhythm & Motion Fusion and Essentials classes at ODC School, LINES Dance Center, and Berkeley Ballet Theater throughout the month of June

-Practice the routines in your living room with our online videos

-Perfect the routines at FREE in-person rehearsals.* Dates and locations TBD.

All registrants are required to attend at least two rehearsals, as this is a performance and we want our contingent to look sharp for the crowd, the live broadcast and the judges! The rehearsals will also help you learn how to appropriately and safely move the choreography through space (i.e. while traveling down Market Street) and learn more about the message and themes we aim to embody in celebration and in support of Pride and the LGBTQ+ community.

THE COSTUMES

All registrants will receive a limited edition Dance with Pride shirt to wear on parade day. You are welcome to add anything you'd like to enhance your look, especially elements that represent your cultural heritage, or highlight the parade theme of "Generations of Resistance." Go as wild and crazy or as sleek and simple as you want. Comfy, supportive shoes and sunscreen highly recommended.

THE SUPPORT

To keep our group moving smoothly we need the help of many volunteers. Please invite friends and family to come out and support our group. They'll have a great time in the process - and get a shirt to boot! Volunteers supply dancers with water and snacks, hand out stickers and postcards to the crowd, and carry our contingent banner.
To volunteer:
-Choose the "Volunteer" option when you register on this website ($20 fee, includes limited edition shirt)
-All volunteers must watch a short safety video and then answer a survey to qualify as "trained." Use R&M's contingent code "RH4641" from the drop down menu. For questions about volunteering, please contact us at info@rhythmandmotion.com.

THE QUESTIONS

What does my registration fee go towards?
Registration fees are used to pay all of the expenses related to the contingent’s Pride Parade production. In addition to your t-shirt and at least 2 required rehearsals (but you can attend as many as you'd like) the fee helps to cover application fees, insurance, t-shirt production and printing, video tutorial production, artists/teaching fees, truck rental, audio rental, banners, decor, supplies and more. In addition to the registration fee, additional support is always welcome and every bit of financial support will help to make the contingent shine. (Please select a higher ticket pricing option to help support the contingent.)
Please note: an additional Eventbrite processing fee will be added to the ticket price at checkout.

Are there any discounts?
We want to make sure that anyone interested in this event can participate. If the fee is a challenge for you, please contact us to discuss work exchange options or payment plans. We are also offering an early bird discount on registration until May 31.

Is there an age limit to participate in the Dance with Pride contingent?
We love your kids, and we love this year's parade them of "Generations of Resistance," but for safety reasons, we do not recommend that those under age 14 participate in this contingent. The parade route is long, fast moving, and a bit chaotic. Plus, you'll be lost in the moment dancing your butt off! Have them come with friends or family instead, so they can cheer you on from the sidelines. If you have any questions, please contact us at info@rhythmandmotion.com.

What are my transport/parking options?
We strongly recommend that you take public transportation to and from the event, as driving anywhere near the assembly area and parade route will be difficult. The assembly area is easily accessible by BART or MUNI using the Embarcadero Station stop (come up on the south of Market side). See the SF Pride Transit Guide for helpful links and information.

What can/can't I bring to the event?
Please bring as little with you as possible, as we will not be able to store any belongings for you while we dance. Give your belongings to spectator friends for safekeeping, wear a small "fanny pack" or find another way to keep essential items on your person.

Exactly when and where will we meet on parade morning?
The parade organizers have not published the order of the contingents yet. In past years we have been everywhere from 8th to 208th! As soon as we know our number, we’ll let you know exactly when and where to assemble. Once we are off and dancing, the whole route should take approximately one hour or less to complete.

How long is the parade route? How long will we be dancing?

The SF Pride Parade runs along Market Street starting at Beale St and ends on 9th St. It’s approximately 1.5 miles. We will be dancing anywhere from 45 minutes to 1 hour and 15 mins. The time will depend on how fast the parade moves. But don’t worry, we’ll make sure we move at a comfortable and steady pace for everyone’s safety and enjoyment.

How do I get my limited edition Dance with Pride shirt?
We will be handing out the shirts to registrants at all rehearsals the week of the parade. You may also stop by the Rhythm & Motion office at ODC Dance Commons.

What is the refund policy?
You may cancel any time on or before June 21 and receive a full refund. After June 21 we are unable to issue refunds for cancellation, but you may transfer your registration to someone else.
