Frequently asked questions

What are my ticket options?

We offer two kings of tickets. Those for each individual reading are $20 per person and our Festival Pass which is $250 per person.

What is included with the Festival Pass?

The Festival Pass gives you one ticket to each of the four readings, a ticket to our Friday Night BBQ Dinner w/ the artists between shows, snacks and beverages between Saturdays readings, and a ticket to our Festival Wrap Party w/ the artists after the last reading on Saturday night.

Where do I park?

Parking for open rehearsals is at Colorado Mountain College. There is plenty of parking outside the venue. Parking for the readings will be in front of the Julie Harris Theatre at Perry-Mansfield, where the readings will be held.

What if I lose my tickets?

We have an electronic record of all tickets. If you have lost your ticket, arrive a few minutes early so we can get you checked in.

Do I get to choose my seats?

Seating is on a first come, first served basis.

Can I attend rehearsals?

Yes. This is a unique aspect of the festival. All CNPF rehearsals are open to the public. No food or drink are allowed in rehearsal spaces. Please refrain from bringing any writing/ reading materials or recording devices. These are works in progress. To visit, please email matthew@cnpfsteamboat.org.

What is a play reading?

A reading is a performance by professional actors without a set or costumes. There is a narrator for each piece who reads the stage directions.

Why do you only do readings and not full performances?

CNPF focuses on new play development. Our festival gives playwrights the time and space to take their works to the next level. Over the course of a week, the collaboration with actors and directors brings new perspectives for the playwright who will then be able to gauge an audience's reaction.

Why is the Festival held in Steamboat Springs?

Steamboat Springs is home to Perry-Mansfield Performing Arts School & Camp, the oldest continually running performing arts camp in the country and where CNPF started. The combination of nature, art and recreation combines here to create a magic that can only be felt here in Steamboat Springs.

Do you have a dress code?

No. Steamboat Springs is a town of jeans and cowboy boots. Wear what is comfortable for you.

May I get a refund for the Festival?

Unfortunately we do not offer refunds for the festival. We would be happy to donate your tickets to someone less fortunate in our community, if you would like.

Does my child need a ticket?

Yes. All children need tickets to attend the festival.

May I bring my children?

Yes! Please note that all children need to have a ticket to attend. We ask that babes-in-arms do not attend to limit potential disruptions of the performance. Please reach out to us at info@cnpfsteamboat.org for recommendations on content and age appropriateness.
