"The mission of The Collinsworth Cause is to imporove the lives of spinal cord injured survivors."

Christopher"s Story

Chris Mackay, now 31 years old, had an accident on May 19, 2019, breaking his neck and leaving him quadriplegic. Chris was at his house in Northern Kentucky, playing with a neighborhood kid and tried showing him how to do a somersault. Chris went down to do the roll and was instantly paralyzed from fracturing his C-5 vertebrae with severe spinal cord injury. Chris is paralyzed from the chest down. He can move his arms some but has lost fine motor function in his hands and fingers. There have been many ups and downs over the last 5 years, including several surgeries and hospitalization stays. Along with his most recent surgeries of above the knee amputations of both legs. Chris lives in his Alexandria KY home with his loving wife , Ashley, and their two dogs and three cats. Chris and Ashley actually got married two days after his accident, in the ICU at The University of Cincinnati Hospital. They have loving and supportive family and friends, and are extremely grateful, thankful and blessed. They are over the moon with excitement that Chris has been selected to be this year’s recipient for the Collinsworth Cause Golf Outing 2024, and can’t wait to see everyone there!!
