We are pleased to offer Olympic Sparring, Sport Poomsae , WT Forms, OPEN Traditional Forms, Board Breaking Divisions and proudly introducing the newest event at AAU- FREESTYLE Poomsae.

Olympic Sparring; KPNP, MANDATORY PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT REQUIRED:

MATCH DURATION:

• ALL COLOR BELTS- 1 MINUTE ROUNDS
• MINI CADET BLACK BELTS (5-9, 10/11)- 1 MINUTE ROUNDS
• CADET (12-14), JR(15-17), SR(18-32), EXECUTIVE, ULTRA- 90 SECOND ROUNDS

NON-KPNP - ALL BELTS- YOUTH DIVISIONS- AGES 5-9

Mandatory Equipment for Non-PSS Matches. All competitors must wear:

1. Olympic style chest protector

2. Headgear - WHITE, BLUE OR RED ACCEPTABLE

3. Commercially manufactured shin and instep protectors (white only and must be worn underneath the dobok)

4. Forearm protectors (white only and must be worn underneath the dobok).

5. Mouth-guard. May be any color except red. Athletes with dental braces must wear special mouth guards that cover braces on both upper and lower teeth

6. Males are required to wear groin protection (hard cup). Female groin protection is optional. All groin protection must be worn inside the dobok

7. Foot Gloves (in lieu of manufactured insteps) and Hand Gloves are optional, but if used must be white half finger TKD Hand Protectors (WT style Gloves).

KPNP REQUIRED-

-MINI CADET (AGES, 10-11) - ALL BELTS

-CADET (AGES, 12-14) - ALL BELTS

-JR (AGES, 15-17)- ALL BELTS

-SENIOR ( AGES ,18 -32) ALL BELTS

-EXECUTIVE- (AGES, 33 - 42) ALL BELTS

-ULTRA AND DIAMOND- (43 AND ABOVE)- ALL BELTS

MANDATORY EQUIPMENT REQUIRED

1. Both competitors shall wear the same size chest protector with the following exception:

B.1.a. When combining weight divisions resulting in extreme size differences in the competitors, a competitor may be allowed to wear the PSS Electronic Protector appropriate for their weight class, at the discretion of the Head Referee for the event, however they will be required to use the pressure settings of the division they are moved into.

2. Headgear

-The Blue competitor must wear blue headgear

-The Red competitor must wear red headgear

B.2.c. Other than the headgear, no other item shall be worn on the head with the exception of religious headwear which shall be worn under the headgear

3. Shin protectors (white only, no instep, and must be worn underneath the dobok)

4. AAU Taekwondo approved vendor sensing socks

5. Forearm protectors (white only and must be worn underneath the dobok)

• SPORT POOMSAE: (Intermediate, Advanced, Black Belt) - AGES 8 AND UP

-Sport Poomsae: Designated Poomsae's to be released 1 week prior to competition date!

-Black Belt Athletes MUST be in PROPER Sport Poomsae Competition Uniform-

-Color Belts Solid WHITE Uniform- **No Colored Uniforms are allowed

-Athletes will be judged using electronic scoring system-

-ELIMINATION- CUT-OFF SYSTEM

-MIXED PAIRS TO CONSIST OF 1 MALE, 1 FEMALE ATHLETE

-TEAM TO CONSIST OF 3 MALE OR 3 FEMALE ATHLETES

PLEASE NOTE THAT EACH DIVISION IS AN ADDITIONAL EVENT!!

EXAMPLE- IF YOUR ATHLETE IS DOING BOTH INDIVIDUAL AND PAIR THEY WILL NEED TO REGISTER FOR 2 EVENTS!

AN ATHLETE DOING INDIVIDUAL, PAIR AND TEAM WILL NEED TO REGISTER FOR 3 EVENTS

NO ATHLETE WILL BE ALLOWED TO COMPETE UNLESS REGISTERED ACCORDINGLY AND PROPERLY!

-Athletes may perform their current belt rank or up 1 form below current rank.

OPEN Board Breaking-

$3.00 PER BOARD

-Single Elimination Bracketed Format

- Athletes compete in a side-by-side manner (superior technique advances to the next round) -90 seconds maximum setup/break time allowed per competitor

-Maximum of 10 boards utilized is allowed per competitor, per round of competition

-No forehead breaking, open flames, or bladed props may be used

- No jumping/flying over people will be allowed

-No spacers will be allowed

-No direct elbow strikes will be allowed

-Athlete technique will be judged based on the following criteria Technique, Focus, Balance, Power, and Creativity
