OUR STORY

IN 2021 our current Cass Tech golf coach, Martin Siml, approached the CTAA Golf Committee and shared that he wanted to start a golf team at Cass Tech. At the time, there were no golf teams in the Detroit Public Schools, and Cass had not had a golf team in years.

Coach Siml said that the team did not have any supplies -- no golf clubs, balls, tees, or any equipment necessary -- to start the team or any funds to pay the fees to compete in tournaments. He learned that we held a golf outing each year to support the golf team and asked if we had any money to assist with purchasing supplies? He also suggested that we ask our golfers to bring in old clubs they no longer used, or any golf gear and equipment that would help the team get started.

We asked - and you came through with flying colors. When you came to golf, you brought old and new clubs, balls, and other golf equipment. CTAA provided funds for practice sessions and tournament entry fees. And with that, the team was formed. They played the first year - and for most of the students-- it was their first time holding a golf club in their hand.

They practiced and practiced and by the next year, they were an improved team. Playing more confidently and competitively. Then, in 2023, THE GIRLS GOLF TEAM BECAME THE FIRST DETROIT PUBLIC SCHOOL GOLF TEAM TO COMPETE IN THE STATE CHAMPIONSHIP!!

This would not have been possible without your support!

Below is a partial list of support provided to the golf team In 2023.

• $1,800 to pay for practice time/balls for the team at the Belle Isle Golf Facility

• $1,589 to pay for supplies/equipment for the team to use when competing (tees, balls, gloves, etc.)

• $1,295 for Green and White Cass Tech logo golf bags for team

• Over $2,000 in registration entry fees for Cass Tech team members for competitive tournaments

• Other critical support as needed.

Below are sponsorship opportunities for the golf outing. All sponsorships and donations are tax deductible. Golf Registration is available on Eventbrite or you can mail a check (Payable to the CTAA) to the following address:
