The Mono Lake Committee is a non-profit citizens' group dedicated to protecting and restoring the Mono Basin ecosystem, educating the public about Mono Lake and the impacts on the environment of excessive water use, and promoting cooperative solutions that protect Mono Lake and meet real water needs without transferring environmental problems to other areas.

These virtual seminars will broaden your knowledge of important foundations of ornithology that can be applied to every bird you see.

Join Nora, the Mono Lake Committee’s Lead Naturalist Guide, to learn about the essentials of ornithology (the study of birds) from the comfort of your own home. These virtual seminars will broaden your knowledge of important foundations of ornithology that can be applied to every bird you see, and she’ll be using examples of birds local to the Mono Basin to help prepare you for your next visit. Each seminar includes a 50–60 minute lecture, a Q&amp;A session, and take-home exercises to apply your newfound knowledge to your backyard birds.We have scheduled a virtual seminar every other Sunday evening from late January to mid-April, covering a variety of topics:<ul><li>January 30: Bird Anatomy &amp; Physiology
</li><li>February 13: Bird Feathers &amp; Flight
</li><li>February 27: Bird Food &amp; Foraging
</li><li>March 13: Bird Mating, Vocal, &amp; Social Behavior
</li><li>March 27: Bird Breeding Biology
</li><li>April 10: Bird Migration &amp; Dispersal</li></ul>Registration will open on December 15. Each seminar is $25 for individuals or $40 for a couple or household, with a 10% discount for Mono Lake Committee members. You can also sign up for all six seminars at once for a discounted $135 for individuals and $225 for a couple or household, with an added 10% off for Committee members, with promo code MEMBER. (Not a member, but want the discount? You can join when you register!)These virtual seminars are limited to 25 people. We expect participants to attend the seminars live, but if something comes up and prevents live attendance, we will be recording the seminars and they will be available to participants until May 15, 2022.
