About this event
2022 Spring Wild Adventure Programs
In partnership with Southwick's Zoo, we are offering three single-day educational programs, each for kids in grades 2-6, during 2022 April vacation! Children will learn through hands-on activities including games, crafts, and even meeting a few of the EARTH Discovery Center's animal ambassadors up close and personal!

Tuesday, April 20: From T-Rex to Turkeys
9:00am-3:00pm - Grades 2-6
$80 nonmember / $70 EARTH member
This program focuses on how modern animals evolved from their prehistoric ancestors. By examining evolution, we can discover some surprising connections! Did you know that the T-Rex is connected to turkeys and chickens? Students will explore the connections between different species of animals and what makes them alike and unique.
Wednesday, April 21: It's What’s On The Inside That Counts
9:00am-3:00pm - Grades 2-6
$80 nonmember / $70 EARTH member
Looking at how animals behave and function is fascinating! In this program, we will explore animal behaviors, eating habits, body structure, and adaptations to discover what makes different species thrive in specific environments.
Thursday, April 22: Move it! Move it!
9:00am-3:00pm - Grades 2-6
$80 nonmember / $70 EARTH member
Locomotion is the name of the game here. Not trains, but how animals move on land, in water, and in the air, as well as the unique adaptations that allow them to survive in their habitats. Different species will be examined to figure out what makes them suited to their environment.
Spring Wild Adventure Program FAQs
My child is an EARTH Member. How do I apply the member discount?
EARTH members receive a $10 discount on Spring Wild Adventure Programs. To receive your member discount when you register, click “enter promotional code”. Your code is the first 5 letters of your last name + the first 2 letters of your first name. Example: John Smith’s code would be SMITHJO. If your last name is fewer than 5 letters, just use your full last name + the first 2 letters of your first name, Jane Doe’s code would be DOEJA.
*Must be a current EARTH member at the time of registration to receive the member discount.
Where and when do I drop my child off?
Please drop your child off at 8:45am at the top of the zoo's smaller parking lot (across the street from the larger field parking lot).
Where do I pick up my child?
Children will be picked up at 3:00pm at the top of the zoo's smaller parking lot (across the street from the larger field parking lot).
What should my child wear?
Make sure your child is dressed for the weather. We spend most of the day outdoors and do a large amount of walking, so we recommend that children wear comfortable shoes and do not wear sandals or open toed shoes.
What should my child bring?
Kids should bring: a face mask or other fabric face covering such as a bandana, water bottle, lunch, sunscreen, insect repellent, hat/visor, & a backpack. Depending on the weather, you may want to pack additional clothing such as a sweatshirt, additional pair of socks, etc.
Looking for more opportunities to get wild at Southwick's Zoo?
We also offer longer multi-day programs during the summer ranging from half-day programs for younger adventurers to an excursion program for teens interested in learning about careers relating to zoology.
