Open morning for parents of Key Stage 2 (Primary) and Year 7 dyslexic children.

If you have a dyslexic child who is struggling at school this open morning will give parents the opportunity to look at the alternative - a specialist school that uses a unique morphological approach to literacy learning. This is completely different to the rote-phonic approach their child struggles with. 

Typically, pupils come to Maple Hayes from primary schools (year 5 or 6) when it is clear that they have not made enough progress to cope with the upcoming secondary school curriculum. Many are placed by Local Education Authorities by issuing an EHC Plan (Education Health and Care Plan).

Please note that this presentation is not to discuss cases on a individual basis, but a broad introduction to Statutory Assessment and EHC Plans. The school is hosting a SEN Workshop later in the Autumn Term for discussions with legal representatives who are able to advise on a case by case basis. This event will be advertised on Eventbrite at a later date.

This is a parents only event. This open morning is not open to children because our admissions process involves trying to teach your child in front of you using our teaching approach and we want that to be their first experience of learning using our specialist methods.
