2020 PIT Count Orientation

AContinuum of Care is a federally-recognized designation for organizations leading the charge to provide the local community with services and housing for those experiencing homelessness.HUD-Funded agencies collaborate with other interested stakeholders to develop a community wide plan to acheive the goal of ending homelessness in the Central Louisiana Region, which includes eight parishes: Avoyelles, Catahoula, Concordia, Grant, LaSalle, Rapides, Vernon, and Winn.The community's CoC Membership consists of organizations, businesses, and individuals who work toward the common goal of fighting and ending homelessness. The CoC works to bring local representatives together to plan for and provide, as necessary, a system of outreach, engagement, and assessment; housing solutions; and prevention strategies to address the various needs of homeless and at risk of homelessness persons in our regional community. The program covers a variety of resources such as emergency shelter, rapid rehousing, transitional housing, permanent housing, and supportive services.

<H2 CLASS="FOpensansRegular TextColor5">During our annual PIT Count, we go out at 3:30am and complete short assessments on the homeless to get an idea of the statistics in our community. These statistics help HUD better understand the need of funding for our community.</H2>
<H2><STRONG>PIT Count will be conducted Tuesday January 28th and Wednesday January 29th. </STRONG></H2>
<H2><STRONG>Volunteers must attend Orientation to participate in the PIT Count. </STRONG><STRONG>Please select your preferred date and time to attend Orientation during the Registration process.</STRONG></H2>

<P><STRONG>Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?</STRONG></P>
<P>There are no age restrictions, however minors must be accompanied by an adult.</P>
<P><STRONG>What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?</STRONG></P>
<P>Parking will be available at Volunteers of America. Transportation will be provided for the Outreach event. </P>
<P><STRONG>What can I bring into the event?</STRONG></P>
<P>Volunteers should wear comfortable shoes they don't mind getting dirty, there will be a lot of walking, often in the woods or up and down levees. Please wear weather appropriate clothing, the event will take take place rain or shine. </P>
