Important Briefing on the Census: Let’s Not be Undercounted!

A complete count in the 2020 Census is essential to ensuring that congressional, state and local redistricting is fair and accurate and that communities receive the proper funding for local infrastructure and social services. But there are many challenges that may undermine the accuracy of the 2020 Census – including insufficient federal funding, a proposed question regarding citizenship status, and a leadership vacuum at the Census Bureau.

The NY Civic Engagement Table, NY Council on Children and Families, Hudson Area Library, Assemblymember Didi Barrett, and Supervisor Michael Chameides (Hudson-3), invite you to join us for a briefing regarding the 2020 Census. This discussion will center around what is at stake for the upcoming Census, the current challenges and what our communities can do to work towards an accurate Census.

Information and discussion will be centered around: What can we do to improve participation from hard-to-count populations? How do we engage vulnerable communities and the general population to ensure an accurate census?

This event is free and open to the public. Childcare, food, and refreshments provided. It will take place in the community room, which is wheelchair accessible.
