Did you know that Brooklyn is one of the areas most undercounted by the U.S. Census? The census is a count of every person in the United States, and takes place every 10 years. The Census determines federal funding for education, healthcare, public housing and our parks, as well as our number of representatives in Congress. It’s essential that every New Yorker is counted, and our voices are heard.Join <a href="https://www.prospectpark.org/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Prospect Park Alliance</a> at our 2020 Census Fair to find out how you can help Brooklyn Count 100%!At the Fair, you can...<ul><li>Apply for a job: the <a href="https://2020census.gov/en/jobs.html" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">U.S. Census Bureau is recruiting for thousands of jobs.</a> Temporary census positions offer the perfect opportunity to earn extra money while helping your community.</li><li>Volunteer with a Neighborhood Organizing Census Committee: Learn which <a href="https://www1.nyc.gov/site/census/whats-a-nocc/whats-a-nocc.page" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">communities are most in need of your support and how to get involved.</a></li><li>Get informed: Gain the <a href="https://www1.nyc.gov/site/census/faq/frequently-asked-questions.page" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">tools needed to spread the word</a> to your neighbors, family and friends.</li><li>Great prizes: As a thank you for attending this important event, we’ll be raffling off a family 4-pack of ice skating vouchers. Additionally, the first 100 attendees will receive a complimentary hot chocolate from Bluestone Cafe.</li></ul>Why is the 2020 Census Critical for Brooklyn?<ul><li>Every 10 years, every person living in the United States is counted to make sure we’re getting our fair share of federal funding for schools, roads, parks and other essential community resources.</li><li>The count of each New Yorker represents $3,000 in federal funding: $650 billion per year distributed among 200 vital programs. There is almost no issue or program that is unaffected by the Census count.</li><li>In the 2010 Census, Brooklyn was one of the most undercounted places in the entire United States.</li><li>If Brooklyn is undercounted again, we could lose up to two seats in Congress, which means less of our voice in Washington on decisions that affect the future of our community.</li><li>The 2020 Census is the first time you&#x27;ll be able to respond online, in addition to phone and mail. <a href="https://2020census.gov/en/about-questions.html" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">The Census asks basic questions about your home in Brooklyn to make certain everyone is counted: a two-minute, 10 question survey.</a> </li><li>The Census will not ask for your personal information, such as your social security number, political beliefs or financial information. <a href="https://2020census.gov/en/data-protection.html" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">All information you share is kept confidential and protected by law. </a></li></ul>Presented by <a href="http://www.prospectpark.org" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Prospect Park Alliance</a> in partnership with the <a href="https://www.census.gov/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">U.S. Census Bureau</a>, New York State Senator Zellnor Myrie, New York State Assembly Members Robert Carroll, Walter Mosely, and Diana Richardson, <a href="https://www1.nyc.gov/site/census/index.page" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">NYC Census 2020</a>, the <a href="https://www.brooklyn-usa.org/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Brooklyn Borough President</a>, the <a href="https://www.brooklyncommunityfoundation.org/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Brooklyn Community Foundation</a> and community partners, including the <a href="https://www.brooklynhistory.org/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Brooklyn Historical Society</a>, <a href="https://www.brooklynnaacp.org/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Brooklyn NAACP</a>, the <a href="https://www.bklynlibrary.org/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Brooklyn Public Library</a>, <a href="http://jccany.org/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">JCCA East Flatbush Community Partnership Program</a>, <a href="https://www.metcouncil.org/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Met Council</a>, <a href="http://www.mixteca.org/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Mixteca Organization</a>, <a href="https://naleo.org/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">NALEO</a> and <a href="https://www.nyp.org/brooklyn" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital</a>.
