2019 Teaching with Technology Summit

Designed for faculty, instructors, and researchers at the University of Virginia, the UVA Teaching with Technology Summit is a free annual event featuring faculty experiences with integrating technology into their teaching and learning.

<P CLASS="MsoNormal" STYLE="background-image: initial; background-position: initial; background-size: initial; background-repeat: initial; background-attachment: initial; background-origin: initial; background-clip: initial;">This year’s theme, Digital Pedagogy in Action, explores the interaction of technology and pedagogy, with a particular focus on access, equity, agency, and representation for both students and instructors. Teaching with technology has become widespread, yet as our keynote speaker, Sean Michael Morris, points out, the “use of digital technology to widen the parameters of human interaction and knowledge production is still in its most experimental stage." What does digital pedagogy currently look like at UVA, and where is it headed? How do we forge new, more humane paths in digital pedagogy? What possibilities exist for transforming our pedagogy, using educational technology informed by principled, critical practice?

Keynote: Sean Michael Morris, on Imagination and the Pedagogy of Design (11am, Georges Student Center)
Sean Michael Morrishasworked with institutions in the States and abroad, corporate and academic, to promote innovative and humane pedagogical practices. He will engage us to consider issues of access, disability, equity, student rights, teacher agency, and the representation of unheard and silenced voices in education.
 
Gain strategies for maximizing technology in your teaching and research, learn about available resources for your courses, and exchange best practices with fellow instructors at mini-breakouts and demos!
