2019 Second Harvest Heartland Regional Hunger Connections - WEST REGION

Second Harvest Heartland cordially invites you to join us for the West Regional Hunger Connections – a gathering of agency partners across the hunger relief network.

To provide space for networking with partners in your area, we are convening regional gatherings throughout our service area.

The day will include:

• Welcome by host agency and/or Second Harvest Leadership

• Review of Agency Assets and Capacity Needs survey

• Free refreshments

• Mini break-out sessions

• Wrap-up

You may choose to attend two of the following break-out sessions:

1. MN Compass: Learn more about the demographics affecting hunger relief in your region. This new tool can be tailored specifically for your service area including demographics, poverty rates, transportation, immigration and more. We'll also show you how to pull your own data. Plus, all attendees will get a printed report for their county!

2. Volunteer Trends presented by MAVA: Learn about the most recent trends in volunteerism and ways you can grow your volunteer program. Presented by the Minnesota Association of Volunteer Administrators. MAVA conducted a study on trends in volunteerism in April/May 2018 with 239 leaders of volunteers across the state responding to the survey. After a decade of rapid change in volunteerism trends, the study found a relative stabilization of the key volunteerism trends, with new trends on the horizon to watch. The results indicated that keys to addressing the trends include having some shorter term, flexible and skilled roles to offer volunteers and skilled use of technology in volunteer engagement.

3. TEFAP: The Emergency Food Assistance Program: Learn more about TEFAP and the ways it can help you increase access in your emergency food program (food shelves, shelters, emergency meals). The Department of Human Services, Office of Economic Opportunity will present.
