2019 Community Producers Program Showcase

Maysles Education believes that storytelling is key to people understanding their own lives, being able to connect to others, and engaging their individual and collective power to write untold stories.In this spirit, we offer comprehensive, hands-on documentary production programs for filmmakers of all ages. This includes on-site production and media literacy programs for adults and young people, as well as community-based partnerships where our experienced teaching artists work with students to develop storytelling, film production, and community engagement skills. We have partnered with a range of community organizations, schools, universities, and festivals in New York City and globally.  All programs are free or low-cost, with sliding scale available for those with a fee.

Maysles Education

The Maysles Education's Community Producers Program will be screening their films at the Maysles Documentary Center on June 14th at 6pm!
Their four films cover topics such as racial profiling, the LGBTQ community and the legalization of marijuana.
After the films, join us for a Q&A with the filmmakers as well as an opportunity to network and learn more about the Maysles Documentary Center and the Community Producers Program.
As this is a community event, the screening is FREE!
RVSP IS NEEDED
The Community Producers Program is a four-month documentary production program for justice-involved youth, ages 18 - 24, to build community and personal development skills through filmmaking. Participants will learn the power of telling their own stories, discover new ways to engage with their peers and community, explore career opportunities in the field of media and public service, and receive training to prepare them for continued education and employment.
