Eric Dickey is a poet and writer.  His children’s book, Alex the Ant Goes to the Beach, was nominated for an Oregon book award. He holds a Master of Fine Arts degree in Creative Writing and his poetry has been widely published.  He enjoys leading writing workshops for elementary school students.  He lives in Corvallis and is hard at work on his second children’s book.  
The writing workshop is for 2nd through 6th graders and it will focus on writing poetry.  Students will be introduced to several different styles of poetry, including haiku, animal poems, and writing about animals or a photograph.  Eric will incorporate physical activity poetry writing and will read his book; Alex the Ant Goes to the Beach.
