The mission of the Center for Cooperative Media is to grow and strengthen local journalism and support an informed society in New Jersey and beyond.The Center is a primarily grant-funded program of the College of Communication and Media at Montclair State University. This year's conference builds on the success of our 2017 summit, which focused on case studies of successful collaborative projects and featured keynote speakers representing The Panama Papers, Google News Lab and Electionland.
The 2018 Collaborative Journalism Summit is set for May 10-11 at the new School of Communication and Media building on the campus of Montclair State University in Montclair, N.J. The conference will kick off with a keynote speaker and reception on the evening of Thursday, May 10, and continue all day Friday.
Space is limited to the first 180 registrants, so reserve your spot today. Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, we are able to keep costs low for the conference; reservations are only $50 per ticket. The ticket includes appetizers and cocktails on Thursday evening and breakfast, lunch and snacks on Friday.

TRANSPORTATION DETAILS
If you are driving: The summit will be held in the School of Communication and Media at Montclair State University. Navigate to the <A HREF="https://www.google.com/maps/place/Red+Hawk+Parking+Garage/@40.8597796,-74.2007861,15z/data=!4m2!3m1!1s0x0:0x947f9fefae7e7249?sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjL8eyvntDYAhVJ5IMKHVDCD5kQ_BIIdjAK" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Red Hawk Parking Deck</A> on the <A HREF="https://www.montclair.edu/campus-map/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">campus of Montclair State University.</A> We'll give you a pass so parking will be free. From there you can walk to the School of Communication and Media; exit out of the parking deck on the 4th floor and walk straight ahead on to campus; you'll see construction directly in front of you. Veer along the walking path to the left of the construction and follow the path that hugs the construction fence straight back. The School of Communication and Media Building will be ahead and to the left at the end of the path. 
If you take the train: On NJ Transit, take the Montclair-Boonton Line and get off at Montclair Heights, NOT at the Montclair State University stop. (There are several stops in Montclair.) Coming off the train, you will make a right onto Normal Avenue and cross the street, walking on the edge of campus. Make a left on College Avenue and walk on to campus. You'll pass our Red Hawk statue and College Hall, which is under construction, on your right. After you walk past College Hall, follow the walking path that veers right and hugs the construction fence; follow that path straight back and the School of Communication and Media Building will be ahead and to the left at the end of the path. 
If you are flying in: Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) is the closest airport. If flying in to Newark doesn't work for you, you could also fly in to NYC and drive or take public transit in to New Jersey.
Ridesharing: If you plan to use a ride-sharing service to get to the summit, we have set up a promo code with Lyft; use the code 2018COLLABJ for $5 off your ride to or from the conference. Be sure to have your driver navigate to the Red Hawk Parking Deck; that will ensure you get dropped off at the right place on campus. 
HOTEL
There are many hotel options in the Montclair area, and of course many more in NYC if you plan to stay there. 
For those looking for a hotel close to campus, we recommend La Quinta Inn &amp; Suites Clifton/Rutherford at 265 NJ-3, Clifton, NJ 07014; the phone is 866-527-1498. We have a block of rooms reserved at La Quinta for $109 a night plus tax until April 12; when you call to make a reservation, reference the MSU Collaborative Journalism Summit.
