2016 Design Camp Session 1

At the Institute of Design (ID) at Illinois Tech, we look at the world in new ways to create the change we hope to see in it.Since our founding by Bauhaus émigré László Moholy-Nagy in 1937, we’ve continually turned design into a powerful tool anyone can use to transform the systems that shape our lives—from cities, education, and finance to food, healthcare, and technology.We’re the only US design school devoted completely to graduate students, and the first to offer a PhD. Institute of Design (ID)

Design Camp is a five-day immersive experience into the design process that draws professionals from corporations and not-for-profit institutions from around the world. Participants’ common interest is in learning how to incorporate design methods into how they build new business offerings and enhance existing brands.
Over the course of the week participants are introduced to problem framing, user research, analysis, concept generation, prototyping, and design communication, by faculty from the Institute of Design, all in the context of addressing real-world challenges facing Chicago area not-for-profit institutions. A sample of past challenges include designing the user experience for a park district sailing program for the disabled, conceiving the use of public space in the central library, and creating opportunities for deeper engagement for a senior citizen center.
CANCELLATION POLICY:  Registrants who notify IIT Institute of Design of their cancellation in writing on or before June 18 will receive a full refund of their fee. Cancellations after June 18 will be refunded the registration fee minus a $750 cancellation fee, unless IIT Institute of Design cancels the event.
