A special evening with Rise, a student-led advocacy organization committed to making college affordable and accessible to all.

On Saturday, November 6 from 8-9 pm, join us for a special evening with <a href="https://risefree.org/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Rise</a>, a student-led advocacy organization committed to restoring funding for public higher education to make public colleges and universities affordable and accessible to all.The cost of college tuition has increased 3,009% in the last 50 years, leaving student loan borrowers crippled by more than $1.7 trillion in student loan debt or unable to attain a higher education because of the cost. That is why Rise trains students to be their best advocates in lobbying for state and federal policies that support critical change.In Michigan, Rise student organizing fellows’ advocacy helped win 2 years of free community college for adults 25+ through the <a href="https://www.michigan.gov/reconnect/0,9968,7-417-102949---,00.html" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Michigan Reconnect Program</a>. They are currently seeking to expand this expression of community care and need to ALL in Michigan. The event features: <ul><li>Washtenaw Community College Rise Fellows Latitude Brown and Judah Orli</li><li>Storytelling by Nia Turner WCC student and Rise Fellow </li><li>A group letter writing campaign to create change in Michigan </li></ul>Health and safety protocols…This free after-hours event is for teens and adults. Proof of vaccination status is needed at the door for entry.
