Celebrating Marilyn Kamuru's debut book

This upcoming book is a collection of articles written from 2016 to 2026. Marilyn Kamuru explores the violations of the not more than two-thirds gender principle and the state of unconstitutionality in Kenya. From Poisoned Precedent to Why We Cannot Amend the Constitution without Violating it, Marilyn makes important arguments about the non-negotiability of women citizens Kenyaʼs constitutional democracy post 2010.

In 2026, it will be thirty years since the introduction of the first Affirmative Action Bill in Kenya’s parliament by Representative Phoebe Asiyo. This book provides important insights into how constitutional violations have become so normalized as to be unremarkable while denying women their constitutional right to representation for 13 years and counting. It also explains why President Ruto ignored the deadline of October 28, 2026, provided by the High Court on June 30, 2026 and continues to retain yet another unconstitutional cabinet.

Join us for the book launch on Tuesday, Nov 17th. Session shall feature a one-on-one conversation between Marilyn Kamuru and political commentator and cartoonist, Patrick Gathara, a performance by LAM Sisterhood and remarks by former Chief Justice Dr. Willy Mutunga.
