Explore food, memory, identity, and queerness through food
Dive into a tasty journey where food sparks memories and queerness.
Session includes:
- An introduction to the idea of “QUEER FOOD”.
- A SHOW AND TELL of some examples of queer dumplings.
- MAKING some queer dumplings together.
This is a free event and all ingredients are provided.
This session is part of a phd Research Project.
The workshop is open to women only and centers on women's experiences. We particularly welcome women with Asian diasporic backgrounds, queer experiences, or an interest in culture, identity, and food memories. Participants do not need to identify with all of these backgrounds or experiences, and no prior dumpling-making experience is required.
A message from the event runner: "All ingredients for the queer dumpling making is provided. However, if you would like to share, you are invited to bring an ingredient that somehow connects to or represents queerness. This could be something personal, symbolic, or simply something that reminds you of your queer experience!"
