The Electric Mine Latin America 2027 (EMLA CL 2027) will take place on 18 - 19 March 2027 in Santiago, Chile. The conference theme is “Building the All-Electric Mine”.

EMLA CL 2027 focuses on mine electrification and future potentials. The electrification of mining is rapidly emerging as a central issue for the resources sector and its efforts to improve reliability, health, and safety. The use of BEVs and trolley fleets combined with renewable energy powered microgrids provides a pathway to more efficient, sustainable and safer mining operations, both for underground and open-pit. Electrification also presents an opportunity to integrate Internet of Things (IoT) such as autonomous vehicles, communications networks and data analysis for safety and higher efficiency. Digitalization and automation are also the solutions to reduce operational costs in areas related with concentration and transport.

The transition to an electric mining future is complex and will require substantial investment in infrastructure, technologies, and hardware as well as collaboration between the mine operators and services industries, research organizations and governments.
