The Long Way Through | Official Film Premiere

The Long Way Through | Official Film Premiere

Overview

An evening of film, art and community exploring grief, resilience, homelessness and the power of finding purpose through adversity.

An evening of film, art and community exploring grief, resilience, homelessness and the power of finding purpose through adversity.

The Long Way Through is a deeply personal short documentary set against the backdrop of Badlands, an 800 km unsupported ultra-distance cycling race across the unforgiving landscapes of southern Spain.

But this isn't really a film about cycling.

It's a story about grief, losing a loved one, addiction, homelessness and navigating some of life's darkest moments. It's about the communities that shape us, the struggles we don't always see, and how finding purpose can help us move forward when life feels overwhelming.

Through cycling, skateboarding, BMX and Sam William Andrew's experiences, the film explores the connection between adversity, belonging and the strength we find in ourselves and others.

More Than Just a Film Premiere

Alongside the screening, the evening will feature a curated exhibition of original abstract artwork by Sam William Andrews, together with a collection of powerful documentary photography by Bristol-based documentary photographer Tom Skipp, capturing the people, places and everyday realities of life on Bristol’s streets, with a particular focus on homelessness and the stories often overlooked.

The aim is to bring together Bristol's cycling, creative, skateboarding and wider communities for an evening that encourages conversation, connection and a different perspective on the challenges people face.

There will be complimentary drinks on the night, alongside some exciting prize giveaways and charity raffles, with the chance to win prizes generously provided by supporters and partners of the project.

Supporting Help Bristol's Homeless

The event will also raise awareness and funds for Help Bristol's Homeless, a local charity working to support people experiencing homelessness and rebuild lives across our city.
