Technical discussion:
All machines are subject to wear-out failure mechanisms that manifest overtime. For mechanical drive steam turbines, these failure mechanisms can include creep, corrosion, cracking, erosion, fouling, fatigue, and certain combinations thereof. Steam turbine wear-out failure mechanisms will be reviewed, and upgrades that can be applied as countermeasures to those failure mechanisms will be discussed.
