Counting Our Blessings: A Reading
Contributors to "Counting our Blessings: New Orleans Stories 20 Years after Katrina," edited by Carol Bebelle, will read their pieces.
Counting Our Blessings: New Orleans Stories 20 Years after Katrina is a journey through the lives of forty-one New Orleanians in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. In a reading facilitaed by the book's editor, Carol Bebelle, six of the contributors will share their work.
Their experiences and reflections offer a clarifying view of the assistance, promises, faith, relief, opportunities, compassion, and empathy that helped to catapult them through the distress to better times. The collection reveals the power of a bitter night in the deepest darkness—and our collective ability to rise to the occasion of doing for others what we would like them to do for us.
Free and open to the public; donations gratefully accepted. Donations support One Book One New Orleans' year-round work.
The Andre Cailloux Center for Performing Arts and Cultural Justice is accessible to community members who require mobility-related ADA accommodations. Parking near the venue is free, though somewhat limited. The nearest RTA stop is at N. Broad and Columbus.
