Overview

Still working while you decide what to do? Join CABA’s first live group for Black women, starting Nov. 14.

Still need the paycheck and health coverage while you decide what to do about a workplace problem? You may have to keep showing up while you figure out what happened, what answer you need, and who can respond. The pressure can follow you home, affecting focus, sleep, mood, or the energy you have for the rest of your life. Your choices may also depend on pay, benefits, work hours, health, family responsibilities, and time. This group was built with those realities in view.

When Work Follows You Home is a live educational group created by CABA for Black women. The teaching draws on real workplace stories from women’s lived experiences and Cerissa’s own workplace experience. Names and identifying details have been removed. The stories are the lessons: we look at what a woman reported, what she wanted, what remains unanswered, and who may be able to respond. Cerissa created the program and its materials using her social-work training, behavioral-health work, research, and advocacy.

Across eight live meetings, you will practice separating what happened from what was recorded or concluded, preparing a clear question or request, checking whether support can reach the problem, and weighing options alongside the realities of work and home. The skills also apply to rude or difficult interactions with a coworker or supervisor.

We will work through four questions: What answer do I need? Who can give it? What step can I take while I keep working? If nothing changes, who or what can I try next?

Your registration includes eight live 90-minute meetings and the 12-page Participant Resource Guide. Each meeting uses a workplace story as a teaching example, with guided discussion and skill practice. The last 30 minutes are for questions and conversation.
