REEL TALK : A Winter Film Series at Moondog Café

REEL TALK : A Winter Film Series at Moondog Café

Overview

A Thursday evening film series in Detroit presented by film scholar & curator Emmy Perryman & Cinema Detroit co-founder Paula Guthat.

We’re pleased to announce the return of our Thursday night winter film series today! Entering season three, this year’s series highlights a wide range of classic 19th century cinema. Dubbed REEL TALK, the series’ curator Emmy Perryman is teaming up with Cinema Detroit co-founder Paula Guthat to showcase some of their favorite cinematic antiquities.

Six Thursdays spanning from November 12 to March 11 will feature a variety of archival films from early pre-Hollywood productions, a presentation on the development of color technology in film via 30+ clips, and 4 weeks of screenings exploring the genres of musical and Film Noir. Each screening will be introduced and led by Perryman or Guthat and include a brief post-film discussion. A certificate of completion will be awarded to all students who attend each screening.

So whether you’re a student, a film buff, or a neighbor just looking for a reason to get out of the house on a wintry Thursday evening, please join us for this excellent array of cinematic adventures.
