Back by popular demand!

The bloody events that unfolded in Menotomy (now Arlington) on the first day of the American Revolution have often been recounted in detail. But what happened after the British troops withdrew? How did this rural precinct of Cambridge recover from the violence of April 19, 1775, and carry on while war continued just miles away in Boston?

For Menotomy’s residents, the aftermath of battle brought the challenge of resuming everyday life in a community shaken by violence. Families still had to support themselves, maintain their households, and care for their neighbors, even as the conflict’s outcome remained uncertain.

Join Richard A. Duffy for an encore presentation of this special lecture, as he examines this often-overlooked chapter of Greater Boston's history and the lives of its people during the early years of the American Revolution.
