Sharpen My Pen Poetry Open Mic

Sharpen My Psen Poetry Night is more than an open mic — it’s a space for poets to perform, receive meaningful feedback, and grow as writers, performers, and artists.

Poets are invited to step onto the stage, share their work, and receive constructive feedback from a Sharpen My Pen sharpener immediately following their performance. The goal is not simply to critique the work, but to help each poet understand what’s working, identify opportunities for growth, and continue developing their voice and craft.

But the stage is only the beginning.

Through the Sharpen My Pen artist-development pipeline, poets have the opportunity to move beyond the open mic and connect with resources designed around who they are and what they need. This can include workshops, writing development, performance opportunities, artist showcases, EPK development, creative tools, career resources, and other opportunities for professional growth.

We believe every poet has a story, a purpose, and a different path to take. Sharpen My Pen helps create the space to discover that path — one performance, one conversation, and one connection at a time.
