The Space Between with Justin Holland and Charlotte Roberts

The Space Between with Justin Holland and Charlotte Roberts

Overview

A profound exploration of rhythm, presence, connection and the space between.

TaKeTiNa

Come and explore the space between freedom and structure with Justin Holland and Charlotte Roberts.

This workshop is an invitation to gather in community, to enter rhythm, to sing, to listen deeply, and to discover what unfolds when we let go of trying to get it right.

There is nothing to achieve and nowhere to get to. We enter the rhythm, return to the body, and allow the experience to unfold. As we find our place within the rhythm and within the group, something begins to shift. We may find ourselves moving beyond the thinking mind into a state of flow, connection and shared presence, with space to settle into the stillness within.

New time slot: Friday evening, 6:30–9:00 pm.

No musical experience is needed. Beginners are warmly welcome, alongside musicians, dancers, meditators and anyone curious about exploring rhythm.

What to bring: Comfortable, warm clothing, a water bottle, and a yoga mat, blanket and pillow for extra comfort during the resting practice.

TAKETINA- We will explore the Taketina rhythm process as developed by Reinhard Flatischler. In this process participants begin with a mantra, then we add simple repetitive steps, claps and call and response singing. By engaging with these primal rhythmic movements using multiple layers, we are required to step out of the rational mind, to let go of our habitual linear, learning patterns and enter an embodied listening that engages the senses as well as our intuition.
This enables us to enter simultaneous awareness, a place of both deep connection and emptiness. Taketina is a powerful tool for emergent rhythmic consciusness and trance like states. Participants are encouraged to make mistakes whilst remaining playful and curious. It is a practice that is appropriate for beginners and the experienced to share.
