Grand Opening Celebration of the Boardwalk Trail in the Native Prairie Preserve

Grand Opening Ceremony of the Prairie Boardwalk

Date & Time: November 17, 2026 at 12:30 PM (Central Standard Time)

Location: The Outdoor Classroom on Prairie Lake

Come check out the brand new 0.5-mile elevated boardwalk trail in the Native Prairie Preserve! This trail gives you rare public access into a federally protected 20-acre prairie, home to some amazing threatened and endangered native plants like Texas Windmill Grass, Texas Camphor Daisy, and the endangered Texas Prairie Dawn.

Enjoy a self-guided walk along the trail, then gather for some remarks at the Outdoor Classroom, right in the middle of the trail. Afterwards, stick around for light refreshments and a chance to meet others in the community before the ribbon cutting ceremony.

Parking is available at the Prairie Lake lot on Gasmer Drive. Rain or shine, we hope to see you there!
