Raise the Bar featuring The Night’s Watch: happy hour + real talk about preventing drink spiking in SF nightlife.
RAISE THE BAR — VOL. 02: HEALTH & WELLNESS
Compliance, Complicity, and Culture Change: A Conversation About Preventing Drink Spiking in Nightlife
Raise the Bar is a happy-hour series built for the people who make everyone else’s night out possible — hospitality professionals who rarely get real conversations about their own health and safety.
For Vol. 02, we’re teaming up with The Night’s Watch. Few people are better positioned to change how nightlife handles harm than the folks who run it — so we’re spending an evening on how to keep drinks, dance floors, and each other safe. A sponsored cocktail hour and food bookend the night, with an honest conversation in the middle.
What to expect
● A sponsored cocktail hour to kick things off
● A conversation led by The Night’s Watch, covering:
○ California’s new drink spiking law — what it asks of bars, and how to go beyond compliance
○ Red flags and warning signs of drug-facilitated sexual assault, for both perpetrators and victims
○ Bystander intervention moves built for bars and dance floors
● Open Q&A — bring your questions, there’s no wrong one
Who it’s for
Bartenders, servers, bar-backs, security, hosts, and bar, club, and restaurant managers and owners across San Francisco — plus the partygoers who fill those rooms. If you work nights or go out at night, this one’s for you. The goal is simple: a nightlife community where everyone can let loose without looking over their shoulder.
Your hosts
The Night’s Watch is a San Francisco nonprofit working to make nights out safer by empowering the nightlife community to challenge sexual and gender-based violence through outreach, education, and advocacy. They treat sexual violence as a public health issue — one that takes root in any space unless it’s proactively challenged.
