LacanAin Haze: test title asdf123: Nothing Is Null and Everything Is wrong
Overview
Patrick Trainer will cover the fundamentals of Jev and his new DuckDB extension that surfaces data that is wrong even though it looks right.
Every check passed. The customer's name was "Asdf Asdf."
Profilers like SUMMARIZE describe the shape of data, such as types, ranges, and nulls. They can't tell you that a London postcode is listed as being in the US, or that an address field says "DO NOT SHIP." This talk covers the fundamentals of Jev, a model that returns calibrated probabilities instead of prose. Then it shows how those ideas became semantic_profile, a DuckDB extension that finds data that is wrong but looks right, with one SQL call.
Patrick is a data engineer who has worked in startups, political tech, identity verification, and most recently ecommerce. He's fascinated by systems and enjoys composing small things into big things.
