Wine can feel like a foreign language sometimes — let’s learn some new languages together.
Languages of Taste with the Children's Atlas of Wine
How do we talk about what we like and don’t like about a glass of wine? What do people mean when they say ‘minerally,’ or ‘austere,’ or ‘structured,’ or ‘plush,’ let alone ‘dry’? Why was everybody worked up about "fresh cut garden hose" ten years ago? Why do we talk about wines in terms of fruit rather than breeding, like they did in 19th century England, or medicinal value, like in early modern Italy? What are the most useful words to know for finding new and delicious things to drink?
The Children's Atlas of Wine is a art and wine education project from grape kid James Sligh that maps the people and places growing wine's future. (More info here.)
