How to RSVP:
When you donate $25 or more to People Powered: GET FREE!, The LP’s community campaign, you get to celebrate with us at GATHER!
Here’s how it works:
1. Make a donation. Give a fully tax-deductible gift on our campaign page.
Every $25 you give covers one ticket. For example, a $50 gift covers two tickets.
2. Watch your email. A member of The LP team will send you a personal promo code and registration link for each ticket.
It may take up to 1 week to receive your tickets. Thank you for your patience. If you don’t receive a code, please contact development@laundromatproject.org by forwarding your donation receipt.
Dress Code: Get Free, Get Fly
Come as your liberated self, in your best ’90s Afro-boho ‘fit, like you’re headed to Brooklyn Moon Cafe or Nkiru Books. Think head wraps, chunky boots, big earrings, silver rings, earth tones, and bold prints. However you show up, show up free.

GATHER: Get Free! is The Laundromat Project’s annual community celebration — and the culminating event of the People Powered 2026 peer-to-peer fundraising campaign. On November 19, 2026, we will take over BRIC in Brooklyn, bringing together community voices and celebrated spoken-word artists and poets in an event that is both a homecoming and a declaration.
At GATHER 2026, we will name and honor the cultural contributors whose legacy we stand firm in and whose vision we carry forward.
The LP sits in the lineage of Brooklyn’s rich legacy of poetry and the spoken word as a tool for resistance and liberation at our annual celebration, honoring traditions shaped by poets such as June Jordan and Audre Lorde, and by community spaces like the Nuyorican Poets Cafe, Brooklyn Moon Cafe, and Cave Canem, as well as countless informal everyday spaces — spaces that have nurtured generations of Black and Brown poets whose work continues to shape Brooklyn’s cultural and civic landscape.
Thank you for powering this work with us. We can’t wait to GATHER together!
