Your Topic:

Title: What happens when the map we have is no longer enough? We are used to solving problems by drawing on experience, expertise and what has worked before. But what happens when we genuinely don't know what comes next? This talk explores how we respond to uncertainty and how we can move from trying to eliminate it, to becoming more capable of navigating it. Drawing on research and evidence from areas such as psychology, neuroscience and leadership, the talk will shed light on what happens to our thinking and behaviour when certainty is unavailable, and what enables us to stay present, notice what is emerging and move forward without having all the answers.

Your Speaker:

Dr Kay Bretz is an executive coach, keynote speaker and founder of Turning Right, where he helps leaders and organisations navigate complexity, transformation and breakthrough performance. Drawing on experience as a senior McKinsey consultant, leader at Coles and Woolworths and an Australian representative at the 24-hour Running World Championships, Kay combines strategic insight with a deep understanding of human transformation. His work explores a question that has become increasingly relevant in today's world: why do capable, successful people so often become trapped by the very patterns that once made them successful? Through compelling stories, practical insights and a refreshing perspective on leadership, Kay helps audiences discover how expanding the world available to us unlocks greater freedom, wiser choices and extraordinary performance — not through working harder, but by seeing differently. Before founding Turning Right in 2020, Kay spent six years with McKinsey & Company and almost a decade in senior leadership roles at Coles and Woolworths, leading large-scale commercial and organisational transformation. Having lived, studied and worked across Europe, Asia, North America and Australia/NZ, he brings a genuinely international perspective to leadership. He now coaches CEOs and executive teams globally, is the award-winning author of Turning Right – Inspire the Magic and is known for challenging leaders to rethink what's possible for themselves, their teams and their organisations.
