My Architect: A Son’s Journey - Film Screening & Conversation
A reflection and discussion on creativity, legacy, and the enduring creative and cultural ties between Estonia and the United States.
We invite you to a special screening of My Architect: A Son’s Journey, Nathaniel Kahn’s acclaimed documentary about the life, work, and legacy of his father, the Estonian-born American architect Louis Kahn. The film will be followed by a conversation between Nathaniel Kahn and Michael Pärt, two sons reflecting on the creative lives and legacies of their fathers – Louis Kahn and Estonia’s renowned composer Arvo Pärt.
Though working in different realms, both Kahn and Pärt transformed their creative worlds, and their work continues to resonate across generations and borders. At the heart of it is a shared attention to the essential: space and silence, light and presence, simplicity and meaning. Their distinct creative visions invite us to look and listen differently – and to consider how ideas can transcend disciplines, cultures, and time.
The conversation offers a rare opportunity to explore these unexpected connections through the perspectives of their sons.
